The Peaceful Revolution Youth Council has assessed the recent events as a direct outcome of the August 10, 2019 coup in Aden, orchestrated and financed by the UAE with Saudi involvement.
This mirrors the September 21 coup in Sana'a, which was only made possible through regional collaboration as part of the counter-revolution against the Change Movement and the February 11, 2011 revolution, representing its significant expressions.
Like all Yemenis, we have witnessed the remarkable bravery displayed by the national army and popular forces in Shabwa as they courageously defended the presence of the state and resisted the armed takeover of the province by the Transitional Council, which is supported and funded by the United Arab Emirates.
The events in Shabwa, culminating in the successful prevention of a coup attempt, are regarded as a significant and commendable national endeavor. The Revolutionary Youth Council, along with all patriotic forces committed to the vision of a federated Yemeni state and opposed to the notion of resorting to armed conflict against the state under any circumstances, highly appreciate this decisive action. They firmly believe that the political process is the legitimate means to achieve rights and demands.
Based on this, the Council underscores that blocking the coup plot in Shabwa would not be deemed complete until the coup is also thwarted in Abyan and Aden. Furthermore, it is critical to remove all armed factions funded and supported by the UAE across Yemeni territory.
We hereby commend the resilience and determination shown by the people of Shabwa and Yemen as a whole. They have reaffirmed the importance of self-reliance and rejected external dependencies that lead to factional divisions. The path to national liberation lies in internal strength, unity, and empowering the popular forces that shape the future of a republican and federated Yemen. This must be guided by the objectives of the February Revolution and the outcomes of the National Dialogue.
O free Yemenis, both inside and outside the country,
The Peacefull Revolution Youth Council has closely monitored the joint statement issued by the Saudi and Emirati foreign ministries, which contains indications that support the Council's ongoing assertions about Abu Dhabi and Riyadh's mutual role in undermining the idea of restoring a unified Yemeni state, one that is republican, democratic, and united according to its social contract. We condemn the Saudi-led coalition countries' cover-up of the plans devised against Yemen, which is causing disintegration, suffering, and a rising humanitarian crisis on a daily basis. We are convinced that the Yemeni people are resilient and powerful, and that no one can take their land, state, goals, or dreams away from them.
We unequivocally denounce the formation of a bilateral committee involving Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which displays a flagrant disregard for the concerned Yemeni authorities. This disregard persists despite the active participation of these two countries, together with the United States and Britain, in a quartet committee.
Based on our experiences with the UAE and its proxies, the Council issues a warning regarding the potential use of the terrorism and Al-Qaeda card by Abu Dhabi rulers as a means to further manipulate the situation. In light of this concern, the Council urges the UN Security Council to establish an international commission of inquiry to investigate the true nature of Al-Qaeda and ISIS, as well as their possible connections to the dubious political agendas of certain countries.
In recent years, the Yemeni people have faced the devastating consequences of violent coups, starting with the Houthi militia's takeover in the north, which resulted in the absence of a functioning state and its institutions. This was followed by a transitional coup in the south, with various countries vying for control over Yemen's land and resources. Despite these challenges, the Yemeni people remain steadfast in their belief that they have the right to live like any other nation, free from militias and external interference. They are determined to achieve their aspirations, and their goal is within reach.
Long live Yemen as a federal democratic republic!
