Peaceful Revolution Youth Council’s statement on 4th anniversary of Operation Decisive Storm’s launch

To the free Yemenis at home and abroad,

In the middle of the night on March 26, 2015, Operation Decisive Storm, led Saudi Arabia, commenced with the participation of a coalition consisting of ten countries. Soon after, its name was changed to "Operation of Restoring Hope." In both cases, the Saudi emphasis remained on the objective of leading a military coalition to wage war in Yemen, aiming to restore legitimacy based on its fundamental principles, overthrow the coup, and save the Yemeni people. These commitments were initially met with satisfaction by most of the political and social elites in the country. However, they eventually woke up to a bitter reality characterized by Saudi Arabia's betrayal of its promises.

It can be said that at this moment in Yemen, deeply wounded and profoundly affected, the ordinary Yemeni citizen, after four years of war, has not witnessed any manifestation of decisiveness to restore the state or any glimmer of hope that was shaped during the revolution and dialogue. Instead, what has transpired is nothing but the erasure of those features by the coup and occupation, while the humanitarian suffering of Yemenis multiplies with each passing day.

O free Yemenis at home and abroad,

Many Yemenis had hoped that this war, which proclaimed the goal of overthrowing the coup, would lead to a historic reconciliation between republican Yemen and its monarchical counterparts. However, the policies pursued by Saudi Arabia and its partner in the war, the United Arab Emirates, have resulted in a dire and perilous reality that reveals their ill intentions. Those who present themselves as the saviors of the Yemeni people have only exposed their weakness and humiliation, as they represent legitimacy without a state. This situation has allowed the illusionary militia and armed myth in Sana'a to tighten its grip on the country, betraying the Republic, undermining the core values of the Yemeni people, and crushing their aspirations, dreams, and dignity.

O free Yemenis at home and abroad,

In reaffirmation of the aforementioned, the Council asserts, on the fourth anniversary of the war's commencement, the following points:

First: After four years of war, the Arab coalition has ceased to exist, and what remains is nothing more than a "Saudi-Emirati coalition" that has transformed into an occupying power. This coalition is adopting the same tactics employed by historical occupiers, such as division, fragmentation, and persecution of citizens. It violates their rights and directly and indirectly undermines the presence of legitimate state institutions, including those related to sovereignty, security, and public services.
Second: The troubling silence exhibited by the legitimate authority and political parties is a direct insult to national dignity and undermines the very essence of the struggles of the national movement. It strikes at the core of the historical achievements that have propelled Yemen's path towards freedom throughout its ancient history.
Third: The main responsibility for the extensive destruction and devastation suffered by Yemen as a nation, society, land, and its people rests with the primary culprits, the "coalition of dynastic and familial coup." This coalition, through its effective siege and violent usurpation of the political realm, has granted regional opportunists an ideal chance to undermine the Yemeni people's hard-earned accomplishments and their aspirations for a future shaped by the historical struggles of the national movement, which can be traced back to the constitutional revolution in the late 1940s, incorporating pivotal events such as September and October, May, the peaceful mobilization, the February revolution, and the outcomes of the national dialogue.
Fourth: The collaboration between the Houthi Imamate coup and the Saudi-Emirati occupation demonstrates their shared traits of dominance, fascism, and brutality akin to extremist groups like ISIS, discrediting their claims of responsibility and nationalism. Their alleged resistance against external aggression is baseless, as their presence solidifies a fascist rule that Yemenis will persistently resist through all forms of opposition.
Fifth: Establishing an international court for Yemen is crucial to hold war criminals accountable, ensuring justice is served for all internal and external actors involved in violations and crimes.
Sixth: Condemning the systematic undermining of the pillars of the Yemeni state and national unity, supported by regional and international forces within the framework of the Saudi-Emirati coalition. We also condemn the funding of parallel entities in liberated areas, including the use of external tools in the liberation process and the delegation of state functions to entities that receive instructions from outside the borders of the Yemeni state, compromising its political sovereignty.
Seventh: Transferring military and political authority to the Saudi-Emirati coalition undermines Yemen's unity, sovereignty, and popular will. We, in the Peaceful Revolution Youth Council, hold the legitimate authority and participating political forces accountable for seizing the national and military decision-making of Yemen, transforming it into a subordinate entity to those who lack understanding of Yemen's complexities and its existential battle against the Houthi coup and its external alliances, which threaten Yemen's and the Arabian Peninsula's national security.
Finally: We in the Council emphasize the need to reclaim the national decision-making process from abroad in order to achieve victory in overthrowing the coup, restoring legitimacy, and safeguarding Yemeni achievements. This entails ensuring that decisions are made by Yemenis themselves, prioritizing Yemeni interests above all else, and adhering to United Nations resolutions, the executive mechanism of the Gulf initiative, and the comprehensive national dialogue conference document.

May the martyrs of the revolution and the resistance rest in peace!
May the wounded of the revolution and the resistance find healing!
May the hijacked revolution and resistance be set free!
Long live Yemen, a free and federal republic!
