Yemenis in Russia mark 8th anniversary of February revolution

The Yemeni students association in the Russian city of Volgograd and the council of the revolutionary youth held a celebration to mark the 8th anniversary of the 11th February revolution.

Speeches and cultural, artistic shows, including folklore dances with Arab participation, and a documentary about the revolution were offered during the event.
At the event, the delegate minister to the Yemeni embassy in Moscow Abdulbari Bakir said: "The February revolution came to build the future with a solid ground that can drown in the past". He hailed choosing the city of Volgograd, which was known as Stalingrad in the past, for the event since the city is a symbol for steadfastness, sacrifice and victory, meanings that Yemenis need to follow.

The Yemeni student movement in Russia played a great role in the February revolution, he said, calling for renouncing division and rivalries within the national and republican milieu and mobilising efforts to undress the coup and resist it with all available means.

Head of the Yemeni students association in Volgograd Eng. Anwar Al-Sufyani welcomed the attendees congratulating them on the anniversary of the February revolution which was an extension of the revolutions of 26th September and 14th October as well as the peaceful southern struggle. "It is the real soul of the entire national work," Al-Sufyani added.

Researcher Yousuf Mor'e, the representative of the council in Russia, spoke to the event highlighting the importance and clear vision of the revolution, and bringing up achieved goals and continuing struggle until all goals are achieved.

Head of the Yemeni students association in Russia Radfan Al-Mas said the revolution came to live and clean the country of corruption and deviation from national line throughout 33 years. The revolution came so that we can build the future Yemen that we aspire to, he said.

Representative of the Russian culture office in Volgograd and Yemeni, Arab and Russian students attended the event.
