Peaceful Revolution Youth Council's Statement on 33rd Anniversary of Yemen's Unification

As the blessed establishment of the unified Yemeni state marks its 33rd anniversary today, Yemen faces significant challenges and threats that undermine its stability, safety, unity, and identity, dispelling any prospect for a peaceful future.

External and internal conspiracies, betrayals, and political farces of unprecedented scale pose an imminent danger to the country. These challenges include the sectarian and racist Houthi project, which has been empowered in the northern part of Yemen, and the regional separatist project led by the Emirati-supported Transitional Council in the south. Together, they threaten to tear apart the fabric of Yemeni society and destabilize the entire region.

Building on its earlier stances, the council continues to reject any attempt to override the will, sacrifices, and hard-won national gains of the Yemeni people. It denounces the usurpation of Yemeni political and sovereign decisions, as well as the deliberate destruction of opportunities for Yemen's stability and the empowerment of its state institutions. In this regard, the council reaffirms that the unification of Yemen is considered a significant and enduring achievement resulting from the sacrifices and struggles of the nationalist movement in the north and south since the 1940s.

This achievement cannot be attributed to a specific political system or individuals. However, various imbalances have marred this experience, including the discrimination faced by southern Yemenis after the 1994 war by the previous regime. These imbalances were similarly experienced by people in different provinces in the north, albeit in different forms and patterns, due to the former regime's governance and administration of political life through political intrigues.

These factors contributed to the popular peaceful revolution of February, which was a response to the distorted reality in both the north and south. This revolution was favored by all civil, political, social, cultural, and trade union components, including the peaceful southern movement. Consequently, during the National Dialogue phase, a document was agreed upon that aimed to address the grievances of the north and south and restore the Yemeni citizen's status as the rightful holder of power and wealth.

While the council denounces political practices aimed at supporting the secessionist project in Yemen and criticizes the lack of response from the so-called 'Presidential Leadership Council' to the continuous insults against the sovereignty of the Yemeni state, its institutions, army, and unified identity, it emphasizes the following points:
- Rejecting any actions or statements that aim to divide Yemen, as the unity of the national territory is a non-negotiable matter. Yemen's problem is fundamentally political and has never been geographical.
- Opposing entering into any agreements or treaties with non-state armed groups operating outside the law, unless they are fully disarmed, deprived of their power, and the restitution of both private and public rights and assets they have stolen is guaranteed. The council views any deviation from these standards as a deliberate validation and reinforcement of these armed groups, which undermines the prospects for stability and peace in Yemen, and exacerbates the root causes of the ongoing conflict.
- Rejecting any attempt to allow rebel militias to exploit the Yemeni humanitarian and political issues for their own benefit, and focusing on achieving key political objectives, such as toppling the coup, restoring Sana'a as the capital, and extending the Yemeni state's authority over the entire territory.

Overall, the Revolution Youth Council is urging honest Yemenis to unite and form a unified national front to support the vulnerable and endangered, and to lead the Yemeni people in their struggle to regain control of their state, republic, unity, and sovereignty over their land. The Council stresses the importance of working together towards the goal of unity in all aspects, such as territory, decision-making, battles, and objectives, to counter the threats posed by the sectarian and racist Houthis and the separatist STC, as well as any project that undermines Yemen's unity, stability, land safety, and identity.

The Council strongly believes that ignoring the importance of national unity and dividing the Yemeni cause into deals that serve the interests of regional countries and their militias in the north and south will only lead to ongoing internal conflict, which would be considered a national betrayal and a legal and historical crime. Those who engage in, fund, or collaborate with such actions, whether locally or internationally, will face the consequences.

Mercy for the martyrs,
Healing to the wounded,
And glory to Great Yemen.
